Relax with Dental Sedation at Tooth Club

For many patients, visiting the dentist can cause anxiety, but at Tooth Club, we offer dental sedation to help you feel calm and comfortable throughout your treatment.

Whether you have a fear of dental procedures, a sensitive gag reflex, or require complex dental work, sedation can make your visit a stress-free experience.

What is Dental Sedation?

Dental Sedation involves the use of medication to help you relax during dental treatments. It’s ideal for patients with dental anxiety, those undergoing longer or more involved procedures, or anyone who prefers a more relaxed experience. At Tooth Club, our sedation options include intravenous (IV) sedation and nitrous oxide (laughing gas), tailored to your specific needs.

Benefits of Dental Sedation

  • Reduce Anxiety
Sedation helps calm nerves, allowing you to undergo dental treatments without the stress or fear you may usually experience.
  • Comfortable Experience
With sedation, you’ll feel relaxed and at ease, and many patients don’t even remember the procedure.
  • Ideal for Complex Treatments
If you require multiple treatments or a more extensive procedure, sedation allows you to sit comfortably for longer appointments.
  • Control Over Gag Reflex
Sedation helps those with a strong gag reflex feel more at ease during treatment.

Types of Sedation at Tooth Club

Intravenous (IV) Sedation
This is a deeper form of sedation where medication is administered through a small IV drip in your arm. You will remain conscious but in a very relaxed state, and many patients do not remember much of the procedure. Our experienced team monitors you closely to ensure you remain comfortable throughout.

Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
Nitrous oxide is inhaled through a small mask placed over your nose, helping you feel calm and light-hearted. This is a milder form of sedation and is ideal for patients with mild to moderate anxiety or those undergoing shorter procedures.

Who is Dental Sedation For?

  • Patients with Dental Anxiety
If the thought of visiting the dentist makes you nervous or fearful, sedation can help you relax and feel comfortable.
  • Long Procedures
Sedation is perfect for patients needing complex dental work, such as multiple fillings or oral surgery, allowing the procedure to be completed in one visit.
  • Sensitive Patients
If you have a low pain threshold, sensitive teeth, or a strong gag reflex, sedation can make your experience more pleasant.

Dental sedation FAQs

Who is dental sedation suitable for?

Dental sedation can be a great option if you feel anxious about visiting the dentist, have a strong gag reflex, need a longer or more complex treatment, or struggle to sit comfortably during appointments. During your consultation, we’ll discuss your medical history and treatment needs to determine whether sedation is the best option for you.

No. Most dental sedation is provided as conscious sedation, which means you’ll remain awake and able to respond to the dentist, but you’ll feel deeply relaxed throughout your treatment. Many patients remember very little about the procedure afterwards, making it an ideal option for those with dental anxiety.

Yes. Dental sedation is a safe and well-established treatment when carried out by trained professionals. Before your appointment, we’ll review your medical history and explain the process in full to ensure sedation is suitable for you. Throughout your treatment, you’ll be carefully monitored to keep you comfortable and safe.

We’ll provide you with clear instructions before your appointment, including whether you should avoid eating or drinking beforehand. As the effects of sedation can take a few hours to wear off, you’ll also need someone to drive you home and stay with you for a short time after your treatment.

The cost of dental sedation depends on the type of sedation used and the treatment you’re having. We’ll provide a personalised treatment plan with a clear breakdown of costs before your appointment, so you’ll know exactly what to expect before going ahead. See our current fees.
